The announced toolkit

On June 2, 2025, Character.AI described a creator-focused expansion from one-to-one text chat toward multimodal narrative tools. The announcement listed mobile Scenes, web AvatarFX image-to-video, redesigned creator profiles, Streams between two Characters, animated-chat sharing, and a planned Community Feed. Some items were available, some were staged for later in the week or summer, and animated-chat creation was described as a c.ai+ feature. Those distinctions are important: an announcement roadmap is not proof that every feature shipped everywhere.

The current character quickstart shows the basic object these tools build upon: a name, avatar, voice, greeting, tags, visibility setting, and optional definition. It also says the avatar influences image and video generation. This connects the publishing layer to character setup: identity fields that once mainly shaped a chat can become inputs to discovery, generated media, and a creator’s public profile.

A platform reading

Evidence: the announcement explicitly names the tools and their rollout conditions; the help guide describes setup and visibility. Inference: the product is treating a character as a portable creative asset rather than only a private conversational endpoint. That creates a feedback loop among creation, audience discovery, and media output. It does not demonstrate that these outputs are accurate representations of a character’s underlying conversational behavior, nor does it establish how creator attribution or moderation operates in every surface.

Evidence limit: Current help documentation was used for mechanics; it may postdate the 2025 announcement.
